Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To systematically review the effect of modified acupuncture on the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis. Methods Such databases as Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library,CBM, CNKI, VIP and WanFang Data were searched to collect the randomized clinical trials on the effects of modified acupuncture for external humeral epicondylitis. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, literature was screened, and the data were extracted, and the methodological quality of included studies was also assessed. Meta-analysis was performed using Revman 5.3 software. Results 13 RCTs were included eventually among a total of 639 cases with modified acupuncture in the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis. The analysis showed that the effect of modified acupuncture in the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis were superior than that of common acupuncture[RR=1.15, 95%CI(1.10,1.21), P<0.00001]; The VAS scores of the group using modified acupuncture were significantly lower than those of the group using common acupuncture[MD=1.18, 95%CI(1.01,1.35), P<0.00001].Conclusion The clinical effects of modified acupuncture are superior to those of common acupuncture on the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis. However more researches need to be verified by the data based on high-quality randomized and double-blind multicenter studies.
