［Abstract］　Cataract is the main cause of blindness in China. Due to the geographical environment and economic development, the incidence of cataract in Guangxi region is higher than the national average level. Therefore, the work of prevention and treatment of cataract is an important part of Guangxi′s eye health care. Over the past 50 years, Guangxi has implemented a series of blindness prevention and treatment measures for cataract patients, including the implementation of public blindness rehabilitation projects, free surgical treatment for poor patients, training of a large number of primary-level ophthalmologists, and donation of ophthalmic surgical equipments. In addition, Guangxi has also improved the precise treatment of cataract and standardized the whole-process planning and management mode, and carried out the clinical application and promotion of new high-end functional intraocular lens, and enhanced the postoperative visual quality. Although the above measures have made remarkable achievements, there are still some shortcomings.
