Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To detect the expression of TGF-β1 in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) of human and mouse so as to investigate their role in the development of oral carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect and analyse the expression of TGF-β1 gene in 12 cases of normal oral mucosa, 12 cases of oral dysplasia and 12 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma in human and mouse, respectively. Results In the group of normal oral mucosa of human and mouse, the positive TGF-β1 protein expression rates were 33.3%, 41.7 %, respectively; and in the group of oral dysplasia, the rates were 50.0%, 58.3 %, respectively; while in the group of OSCC, the rates were all 75.0%.Conclusion As the degree of malignancy increased, the expression of TGF-β1 protein of human and mouse increased gradually and there was the similar expression of position and intensity. This suggests that TGF-β1 plays an essential role in tumor progression and the development of OSCC of the human and mouse may be similar to each other.
