Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To evaluate the clinical application value of digital fusion tomography(DTS) in the temporomandibular joint photographic technology. Methods 60 patients with suspected temporomandibular joint dysfunction were randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received temporomandibular joint and lateral digital radiography(DR) photography and the experimental group received temporal mandibular joint digital tomography. 120 images were taken from the open photography and the closed photography of bilateral temporomandibular joints respectively. The DR images and DTS images were observed by an associate chief physician and an associate chief technologist respectively. The image quality was obtained from the two imaging techniques and the articular surface morphology and activity of the mandible were evaluated. Results The quality of images in the experimental group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion DTS is the better photographic technique than DR photography to show the temporomandibular joint morphology, structure and activity.
